We are SO EXCITED about our New Host/location:
Mine Oyster Restaurant in Boothbay Harbor! Last year was
spectacular and this year we will have tons more space!
We also hope to have even more Damariscotta River Growers
to add to the mix! We will announce them as we know!
Why?
It's FUN! And the proceeds from the Festival will be donated to the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund, established in 2003. Money from the fund is used to sponsor marine education and conservation projects throughout the Midcoast area.
Ed Myers was a pioneer in Aquaculture in Maine. In 1975, Myers obtained Maine aquaculture lease No. 1 to raise mussels at Abandoned Farm in South Bristol. He went on to devote his life to sustainable aquaculture and became a mentor to many of those still working on the Damariscotta River today. He gave The Pemaquid Oyster Company guidance as they grew, what have become, award winning oysters. The foundation is a way of giving back to others as he did so well.
